I just don't believe it Emma,  how can that be  ??? ??? ??? ???  I'm really looking forward to a whole weekend of snowdrops,  Shaftsbury followed by an overnight with a galanthophile friend en route then up to the  HPS Ragby Hall event,  and if there's still an hour an a half to spare  over to Ashwood Nursery for a Cyclamen browse.  We don't get out of the south west that often  ;D ;D

Surely there will be a rush when the sun shines and the floods subside.  As you say the venue is good old Shaftsbury- on- Hill.

That's very disappointing but there was some interest at the AGS meeting and judging by my older clients, many of whom are still reluctant to buy online, you might be getting some more applications though the post.  The pity is that you have not got any publicity in the national press such as a mention in one of the snowdrop articles that prevail at this time of year.

Emma - just modify your plans a little depending on how the sales go, and enjoy a slightly different event with a very select group of people. It will grow from there. If we weren't opening our garden the next day I would definitely come, and I agree with Maggi - it takes support from people as well as all the efforts of organising something; and those who do support the Shaftesbury day are likely to go on doing so.

Emma

I can't come either - I was booked for Kalmthout and Zaanse Schans before Christmas - but you sounded quite down - so I think Tim's right, enjoy your event and those friends and enthusiasts who can make it. As always Shakespeare has exactly the right words:
O, do not wish one more!
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.

Excellent quote, Steve, but not exactly the right words.  How about:

O, do not wish one more!
We few, we happy few, we band of siblings;
And galanthophiles in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods (and womenhoods) cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Walfrid's day.

(Also, hopefully, the sales tables will be less of a fight than usual at such events!)

Was laminating signs this morning and accidentally  ;) did the flier you gave me at Myddleton, seemed a shame to waste it so now up on my greenhouse door.

I'll also mention it on my guided walks. First week is free to RHS members and often quite busy so hopefully it'll help shift a few last minute tickets.

Richard, I suggest you make sure you emphasise that the Shaftesbury event has been put on at short notice so there will be tickets available, even for last-minute applicants.  Otherwise people might assume that the event will be fully-booked by now, as snowdrop events often are.

Emma, at some point closer to the day you might decide to make tickets available on the door.  Indeed if you have yet to send out the tickets, you could decide to send that information with the tickets and thereby pick a up few "friends and family" accompanying the people who have already bought tickets as well as latecomers.

To clarify for anyone else reading this, tickets will NOT be sold on the door as things stand (AFAIK); that's just my suggestion for a possible option.
