In the meantime    nobody is having a go at the latest. So here's another one of the same thing, shrinking gently back into its 'home'. The clue is -  you certainly cannot make a 'Yum Pla Muk' without one.!!

I thought the first photo looked like some sort of sea-life..... which would fit into the Yum Pla Muk..... though not in any form I've seen. The second photo looks like a sort of "shrimp flower".... but that can't  be right...

I don't think I'll take the Mensa test again then - even apart from the cost (£25 many years ago) I think my pedantic brain wouldn't cope as I would take issue with the wording.

Too good a clue Rob,  , I think the cat is out of the bag. It was amazing what a range of guesses there was this time, from fish to fungi,  and birds, meat, body parts and more. Funnily I could see the thinking behind most of them. Strange how the eye ( brain ) fills in the missing parts of the images,  .  Although ' fish guy' I think you've got problems!! .
One person got it to species level a few minutes after I posted it.
Thanks for making your guesses public Maggi,  , most like to do it in private,  . Unfortunately most of you picked the wrong ingredient of the Yum Pla Muk.
Here's the full thing, Zingiber spectabile. A hugely favourite Genus of ours, which because of this Puzzle we are going to start growing again , along with other Gingers.

Loads of people do though Maggi.  Its a shame but I think most are afraid to guess wrong in case they appear foolish, ... which of course they don't.

I grew these, as well as Etlingera elatior, Heliconias and the like when we lived in North Queensland. Very hot and humid; you had to follow the shade of the mangos in order to garden.
