It is just wonderful, Cliff.  Somehow I don't think I'll ever manage to visit it in person.  :'(
Cheers.

For Paul (and any of you who might be interested), I have posted a large batch of images taken at Stonecrop Gardens on the following page of the NARGS site as a tribute to its creator; Frank Cabot who passed away very recently.

Some amazing pics in there, Cliff.  Must come back tomorrow and view them all properly.  I must admit that with all we've been through in the last while I had completely forgotten the NARGS forum..... now I have the link again and have logged back in.  Lost it when my computer had conniptions a few weeks ago. ::)

Yvonne has just had a read of the various responses to her coming home..... she asked me to please pass on a big cheery Thanks to you all for your well wishes.  8)

Thanks all.
Cheers.

... And thank you for the wonderful word; 'conniptions' ... so many opportunities to use it in my life these days!  LOL.

Cliff, re your new word: it is used here in the phrase, "cat's conniptions", as in, "There'll be cat's conniptions when she sees what you have done" - big trouble, in other words, a hissy fit.

The common pronunciation is "connuptions"

Thanks Paddy,
I may introduce it into a rare marital 'discussion' to test reaction!   :D ::)

I don't recognise this new word. Does it have several meanings?

What... "discussion"  ? .. yes, Anthony..... MANY meanings........ ;)

If you mean "conniptions" ... then it's not so new...it's  given as originating in 1830s in  America.

I did a Google for "cat's conniptions" and found the following:

”Pet Talk:  Curb your cat’s conniptions at the vet“ – It is very common for cats to throw tantrums when they visit the vet, especially if they are not exposed to other people frequently."

So, maybe, it is a phrase which originated as a description of cats' behaviour.

I had no idea that conniptions was that rarely used?  Effectively the word as I used it meant "fit".... i.e the computer had a fit.  Given your wonderful use of obscure words at times Cliff, I'm so glad to have given you another one.  Like I said, didn't realise it wasn't common, although I did realise it was an older word.  I have a lot of older words as my parents were somewhat older than the parents of most of my peers when growing up (both parents were in their 40s when I was born). 8)

At 68 I've just bought my very first guitar. It's the first time, in any shop, that a proprietor has talked me out of my intention of spending a fair amount of money and suggested I start with something considerably cheaper. He suggested I start with a classical style guitar with nylon strings one of the reasons being that I could start my learning process (from scratch, never had any kind of instrument before) without finger problems from steel strings. Hope he's right. Came with free internet tutor for one year. First lesson about to start ;D

Well done David and good luck with it!

I was nearly 40 when I got mine. It was a cheaper midlife crisis purchase than a Porsche  ;D
