And as Gerry (?) Prescott said, the workers lose their jobs but the top dogs responsible for it all go on, from strngth to stinking strength (my interpretation). That they should hack into phones is disgraceful enough but that they should have deleted some calls which could surely be relevant to a murder investigation, says clearly that they believe themselves to be God and well above the law.

Mark, try "Alice in Wonderland."

Good idea Roland but I think the fines would need to be in the 10s of millions to bother Murdoch! >:(

I am getting confused. I had a very nice note this morning from A Forumist who had had a loss of memory moment like mine and it turned out to be iron deficency for which she recommended the continued use of Chocolate cake. But I also had a note yesterday from a Forumist whose wife, he said, had lost 20kgs since January and men were again looking closely at her. Which course shall I follow? I have to admit the former is more likely. ::)

It always baffled me that they called this comic "News of the World", but at last it is going. http://www.dawn.com/2011/07/07/britains-scandal-hit-news-of-the-world-to-shut.html No doubt, like the phoenix, another dreadful rag will rise from the ashes.

Its website has already been registered - "The Sun on Sunday". I can't wait.

Edit - Sorry, I didn't see Mark's post but he has the name wrong. That paper already exists.

Much more to come on this one I think. I live in three hopes:

1. that Murdoch has at the end to make a grovelling apology.

2. that all of this shoots down his bid to buy the rest of BSB.

3. that it all costs him a substantial part of his ill-gotten fortune.

I did say I live in hopes.

They can close them all as far as I am concerned as I haven't bought a newspaper in years.
There is two sides to every story and then there is the truth, and you seldom get the truth in a newspaper. :o

1. He (& his minions)  will grovel & beat their breasts if it is expedient & good PR. It will mean nothing.

2. Unlikely on present showing.

3. Peanuts for him.

Yes, I'd forgotten that. A fine way to get rid of lying, cheating press barons. ;D
