The Colesbourne Study Day ...
Talk by Matt Bishop: A tour of Snowdrop freaks from the perspective of a snowdrop nutter...

I notice that Matt is also speaking at the Cottage Garden Society event

Quote
Matt Bishop     A Survey of Some Recent Snowdrop Eccentrics

I was toying with the idea of going to both events but it's a long way from here to Colesbourne so I might be put-off if Matt is planning to give broadly the same talk at both events.  Does anyone know (or could Matt comment)?

Burton Agnes Hall (situated about half way between Driffield and Bridlington) is holding a 'Snowdrop Spectacular' from 8th February to 2nd March.  http://www.burtonagnes.com/DB/Events/Snowdrop_Spectacular.html

I have never been there myself but the picture makes it look very nice.

Last year I came by change upon Deene Park http://www.deenepark.com/ (6m NE of Corby off A43).  They will be open to view the snowdrops on Sundays 16th and 23rd February.  They have vast swathes of nivalis and a small collection of 'specials'.

I could recycle that description for Chippenham Park, which is off the beaten track between Newmarket and Mildenhall http://www.chippenhamparkgardens.info/information.htm .  They plan to open every weekend in February 2014 for snowdrop viewing but could open earlier or later depending on the weather, so consult their website before visiting.

Almost in Scotland.

I'm hoping to have the usual calorie fuelled  ;D informal meet here although with the increasingly busy calendar it's not going to be easy, unless it's a very very mild season I'll aim for early march again once things have calmed down  :)

I seem to remember a mention last season of a bus / group trip going to Nettetal and / or other snowdrop events. Possibly a figment, of course, but if such an outing were to be considered this year ..

AFAIK, a group trip has been mooted but has never actually happened.  I would certainly be tempted to sign-up if there was such a trip.
