Angie, Hepatica might be better in a frame outside,if we get a good summer they wouldn't like the heat in the greenhouse. you would have to shade very heavily. I only bring them into the greenhouse at flowering time.

Michael I didn't think some of these Hepaticas could take the cold.
Don't apologise for the pictures, they are absolute wonderful.

David I spoke to my hubby about more staging and he said I would need to thin down. I thought he was meaning my plan collection but he was meaning me. B.....y cheek.

Of all the addictions to have Angie, plants are probably the healthiest & the best ;D

I am plant mad too  :P

I have grown hepatica in the garden & have tried some of the cheaper japs. I find them more challenging than the others so starting cheap & working your way up is a good idea.

Some seedlings are coming along from crosses I've tried, a couple of years from flowering still.

Hepatica japonica var pubescens, very nice seedling, first flower this year from 2010 sowing, seed from Gunhild Poulsen (Gunhild - this is from your #23)
Unusual dark blue seedling from Hepatica yamatutoi mother, father unknown  :o probably nobilis
