Wonderful isn't it? Seldom can one cake have provided so much pleasure, real or imagined and entertainment for so many people all over the world !

Thanks very much for the virtual cake Lesley but being a stickler for tradition, I am holding out for the real thing.

We just had a scorching weekend up near 40C for both days which coincided with our Ferny Creek Hort. Society Rare Plant sale. The heat kept away potential buyers so I had to chip in and do my bit - always the Good Samaritan. I didn’t get into too much trouble as it was still under the birthday umbrella. Trilliums, Meconopsis, Lapagerias and an assortment of others have found a new home.

I didn’t say Dave had a problem. ;)

OK, I'll make the cake, you pour the wine.

I think Dave's biggest problem is called Susan and Lesley.

Lesley --i commented to Tim recently on another matter that i had wide shoulders and he could do his worse.

Tim response--' he knew ,(but not personally) ;),of some, (manly ::)),sites that would enjoy looking at my shoulders'!!!!!!!!!!! :P

As i'm sure that thought would never enter yours or Susans minds-- i say it again--

I have wide shoulders.

Cheers Dave.

Maybe we missed a Forumists birthday yesterday? If we did then surely razvan chisu should qualify for 2 cakes?

Oh, dear, so we did! Well, I did.... so sorry, Razvan, may I now wish you  very merry un-birthday?
I could try to make amends to Razvan by singing him Happy Birthday, twice, but that would be adding insult to injury! I'll just send my very best wishes!

I have had an email today that raises concerns about the availability of birthdates on the web in relation to identity fraud:
Quote
Hi Maggi,
There was a warning on the news this morning about posting date of birth on forum,/chat group sites. This along with addresses makes it easy for identity theft.
Prehaps it would be wise to inform members and encourage them to remove their date of births, especially if their address can be easily obtained or you have an uncomon name.

If any of you who have entered your birthdate in your profile would prefer not to display that information, just go to your profile, delete the dates and click 'save profile'.
Miserable world, isn't it, if we cannot pass on greetings for a birthday without risk?
I leave you to decide whether or not you wish to have your birthdate listed in this calendar.
Meanwhile, a Merry UnBirthday to anyone who is not having a birthday today!

That would be a possibility, Fermi. And would have the advantage of allowing us to kid ourselves that we are younger than we are!
In the meantime, we have missed giving our good wishes to TC, who celebrated his birthday on the 4th because of my hesitation over this matter. I was thinking of you, Tom, I raised a glass of healthful fruit juice in your honour!

I found when I had a look at my profile thing that I could change my own but not anyone else's but also found that I couldn't get into the part where the birthdays are displayed (except my own). So how can anyone learn others' birthdays (except the moderators of course). It seems to me that if we put in such personal details, we are happy for them to be used. Though I've no problem with Fermi's suggestion either. For my part, when I reach 70, I plan to tell people I'm 85 and they'll say "How wonderfully young she looks!"

Any general lurker can learn the day, month and age from the calendar but even if the data was not displayed there any 'hacker' worth his salt could get the info out of the system. I have reluctantly taken Maggies advice and removed my own dob.

You'll think I'm mad when you read the timing of this post in the UK, but in New Zealand, it is already Sunday 11th March.... it is Lesley's Birthday!
MANY HAPPY RETURNS OF THE DAY, LESLEY  MANY HAPPY RETURNS OF THE DAY, LESLEY  MANY HAPPY RETURNS OF THE DAY, LESLEY  So, time for a little light refreshment in celebration

8609-0

Chocolate is Lesley's favourite, I think, so this should go down well.
On Wednesday 13th, it is John Finch's birthday, it is his big Four-oh, but I shan't mention that, because he is sensitive, so I hoped this cake would be enough for both Lesley and John to share, this seems a cost-effective move :-*:
8611-1

When I went cake-shopping, I had the good fortune to find this confection at a reduced price in Tesco... this gladdened my Scottish heart even more, though, of course, I had to check that it was really tasty ....

8613-2

It is yummy  ::) I wasn't only eating it for quality control, though that is important, I thought Lesley and John wouldn't mind if I had a slice to celebrate my passing the 1000th posting statistic ;)

Happy birthday to Lesley, and, soon to John... better start into the cake now, John, I can't promise it will last till Wednesday!
