We are reeling here ( yes, yes, I know that Scots  are meant to reel... it is a national dance... and yes, I know with my recent indisposition I have been reeling from vertigo...... but this is quite other... we are reeling from the number of good wishes received from so many of you on the occasion of my recent chocolate fest, sorry,    birthday  :o 8)
While this has largely been a deliciously pleasant experience, the abundance of good wishes seem to have leaked out from our closeknit community to the wider world and I am pained to tell you that this has caused an uncomfortable level in media interest in my ordinarily quiet and reclusive life..... yes, dear Friends, I have been targetted by the paparrazzi :o :-X

Imagine my horror when this candid photograph, snatched by some pesky newshound as I relaxed yesterday morning,  appeared in the world's press.............

Maggi,

Given the obvious absence of teeth in your candid pic.... I'm not sure it is a good advertisement for the chocolate that you so lavishly recommend!!  ;D ;)
Cheers.

A bit late Maggie but I do think you are much better looking than the cartoon - your sense of humour is pretty sharp - is that Chocolate induced??

They say 'Laughing makes you fat' - it is just a rumour that it is chocolate.  The papparazzi shot has put pounds on.

Absolutely right, but I was referring to me - I laugh every time I think of the cartoon ( thank goodness there is not a webcam to show my expanding girth.  The routine visit to the GP tomorrow will be difficult as I try to explain it was laughter not chocolate responsible for the weight gain. ::)

Arthur,

The truth of the matter is that there are two types of people in this world..... there are the fat broadcasters and the fat receivers.  The fat broadcasters are those people who can eat anything that they want and never put on any weight, and the fat receivers are those who sniff a cake and suddenly gain 3 tonnes.  So it is not the fault of the fat receivers that they gain weight, it is the fat broadcasters who are the problem.  Their fat is set loose in the air where it invisibly floats around until it comes close enough to a fat receiver and then it adheres to them.  It is entirely out of the receivers hands.  Some people are in between and they are the ones who tend to yoyo diet and the like.  So... dieting should be banned because it makes the poor fat receivers gain weight, because if they weren't around there wouldn't be all that loose fat floating invisibly around in the atmosphere to be gained by others.  Your expanding girth (as you so elegantly put it) is nothing to do with junk food or your diet or anything like that, it's really the THIN people's fault!  So we should ban thin people, then the rest of us wouldn't gain THEIR shed weight!!

Makes perfect sense to me!!  ;) ;D
Cheers.
