We missed it yesterday but I hope it is not too late to wish Derek Bacon (derekb) a very happy birthday for yesterday. Derek reached the grand age of 79 years young and is, I think, our oldest regular contributor to the Forum.

Very best wishes Derek and I hope that when (if!) I reach 79 years I am stilling turning out the quality of stuff that you grow.

Indeed! You know I hadn't thought about that aspect..... I suppose that Derek may well be our most senior Forumist..... and he was likely enjoying a shared virtual cake yesterday with Forumist Pat Toolan  (a rather younger lady!!) from Australia, who was also celebrating her birthday  8)
Greetings to them both!

And thank you Maggie so much for the Lawson card that you sent by email - it came as a very pleasant surprise. I share my birthday with a two year old grand daughter which is lovely. At least I have an idea of her possible personality sharing the same star sign. I have done my utmost to introduce her to the scent of flowers when possible. Get them young!!
Attaching the first of the arils showing colour in the bud. Must check the progress now.

Pat, it is my pleasure, I'm sure!  Hope you had a lovely day.

Don't be too sure about the characteristics of your granddaughter yet.... my niece , J, had her birthday on the eighth..... mine is only a week away and any hopes I had for her being an outgoing articulate little bundle of fun ( That would describe ME, you  understand!! ::)) were sadly dashed when she quickly proved to be a miserable sour-faced monosyllabic whinger !!  :o

Good t to see the fat buds on that Iris... full of promise, indeed.
