If she's really that much better than the last one you could just call her "Luxury"?  ;D
Cheers.

Here's my birthday pressie to me. Not BRAND new (Yr 2000) but a darned sight better than my previous one.

Small prize to whoever offers a suitable name for the lady in red. So far, Otto suggests Poppy and I thought maybe (Mec) Punicea but I wouldn't like her to be nicknamed Puny. So roll in the suggestions please.

How about LARA-(Lesley's All Red Auto)

Happy Birthday Lesley.

Zebedee (of Magic Roundabout fame). Fits with the Z of the reg. no. and roughly the same colour as Zebedee's face - small pic from the internet herewith for those who don't know what Zededee ("Time for bed...BOING!") looked like.

I seldom look at this thread, nevertheless better late than never.
I wish you too a very happy birthday Lesley. Now you belong to the stronger people I think.

How about "Cox orange" ? ;D

I think a very good name Luc. Will at the same time do for starting baking an applepie.   :D :D

Lelsey, trying to think of a female name for the car, I kept thinking of Lola but couldn't imagine why until I suddenly recalled watching a German-language film called 'Run Lola Run', a strange film where the same action happened in different time-lines, with different outcomes, all involving this very fiesty woman with bright red-dyed hair running through a German city to stop something bad happening. Anyway, it must have been the red hair and and the red car that my brain was making the connection about.

Here are some small stills from the film culled from the internet:

My grateful and appreciative thanks to everyone for your kind wishes and also the excellent suggestions. I like the Scarlet Woman and also Lara and Lola very much. Cox's Orange too of course. I'll decide very soon and let you know. I was hoping and fully expecting that Thomas would send me a nice new Opel, but that didn't happen. :'(

In the meantime though Paul, I'm not at all keen on SPLAT. It might be tempting providence ;D. The name doesn't have to be garden-related.

In the meantime, here's the boysenberry mousse. We ate the two small ones first then some friends arrived at around 11pm and helped us with the bowlful. With 4 pics there should be enough for everyone. I've known strong men come back for 3rd and even 4th helpings of this luscious dessert. It's made from just boysenberries, egg white and cream with a raspberry jelly to replace gelatine and provide a little sweetness. It's very soft and creamy in texture, with crushed fruit added, which tends to sink to the bottom.

Lesley,

With a name like 'Splat' it might also make people wonder a bit about your driving history..... maybe you kept running people down!!?  ;D

Along the Cox's Orange line...... isn't there a Cox's Orange Pippin apple or something like that?  If so, how about "Pippin" as the car name?  Although your car is red not orange.  If you're into Apples there are always Red Delicious, so you could call your car "Del" for short?  8)

Having seen your Mousse, I am now SO hungry!!  Must tuck into Yvonne's black forest Birthday Cake.... she got it from a group of friends last night at a gathering.  Her Birthday's Friday, so it is a bit early, but it's darn tasty!!   ;D ;D
Cheers.

Paul, in your current hot weather conditions I feel you should eat the gateau as soon as possible, it'll go off by Friday otherwise  ::)
It's Ian's Dad's birthday on Friday.... we'll  need to raise a toast to Yvonne as well... it's a great excuse 8)
Ian will be away so I may not see Jack.... oh well, I'll arrange cake and cheers anyway... it's only fair. ;)

Lelsey, I knew there was another reason I liked the name Lola. Remember the Kinks song "Lola"? Try this link:
