Thank you everyone for your good wishes. Maggi I'm trying to avoid chocolate today but I've made a large boysenberry mousse instead for pudding tonight. We are not going out but then my cooking is better than any restaurant's anyway. ;D

I've had some lovely presents and your own card is a real beauty. I think Roger is a little jealous. :D After lunch I'm going into town to collect my present to me, and I'll show you a picture later. There will be a small prize for the best Forum-generated name for her.

A little clarification needed here , I think.... is this a mousse of large boysenberries ?..... a large mousse of boysenberries or, my personal hope, a large mousse of large boysenberries ?? Whatever, sounds like a super dish for a Birthday meal  8)
Fondest Birthday wishes, Lesley  :-* :-*

Thank you Paul I have your other message re seed as well. And yes, I'm having a great day.
Maggi it is indeed, a large mousse of large boysenberries which I bought on Saturday at the Market. In this household it goes by the name of "Mum's pink pudding" and is a great favourite with everyone from 1 to 91. Picture later.

Here's my birthday pressie to me. Not BRAND new (Yr 2000) but a darned sight better than my previous one.

Small prize to whoever offers a suitable name for the lady in red. So far, Otto suggests Poppy and I thought maybe (Mec) Punicea but I wouldn't like her to be nicknamed Puny. So roll in the suggestions please.

Happy birthday, Lesley!
A bit tardy as I've been working "off site" today (no computer!) but it's still your birthday, so live it up!
The car looks a beauty! Everyone knows that red cars go faster - so look out for Mr Plod!
With a number plate like that I'd call her Zeph, short for Zephyranthes! or maybe Zephyr.
cheers
fermi
P.S. the iris seeds are still to be posted!

Luckily it is Lesley's birthday that has drawn me back onto the forum and not just the defence of my facial hair. Lesley a HUGE happy birthday from your hirsute friend. And just for the record, the facial hair is not growing in. It is fully grown in and now takes a considerable amount of time to maintain those blank spots. Far more than the edging of lawns. As Otto said, the wife loves it and the kids hate it - perfect.

I like Otto's suggestion of Poppy for your new car but here are a few more to play with - Saffron, Chilli, Claret, Dahlia, Rose, Apple.

Splat!  It reminds me of the colour when you drop a tomato (which then goes splat!).  OK, I have a strange mind!!  ::)

Tommie.... short for Tomato.

How about "Tulip"?  She's bright red, stands out in the crowd, yet petite and a bit delicate?

I can think of a couple of others, but they're not gardening related.
Cheers.

I love 'Poppy' and I think 'Zeph' is great  too but we have this weakness for alliteration in car names, and I think I see that she is a Honda, so she'd be Hannah  if she were here!
