Huge apologies for missing the birthdays of Yijawang and Olive on the first and Rob Stuart, yesterday... I was thinking good thoughts but my sinusitis infection is so horrible that I was not in a fit state to post. Hope you had a good day and that the coming year will be a great one for you.
Tomorrow is Dave Toole's Birthday... bet he's planning cake.......

Maggi,

Thanks for the well wishes.  You're not alone in missing my birthday,  sometimes I've been so worn out with all the Christmas and New Year's partying that I've forgotten it myself. Hope your sinuses are getting better, I had a couple of bad bouts of that myself a couple of years ago and touch wood it doesn't return any time shortly.  Not a very pleasant thing to live with especially with all the cold and damp weather you get in winter.  But cheer up the days are starting to get longer again and before you know it spring will arrive with all its new growth and promises of tomorrow.

Rob, glad you are developing the knack of a party season, which encompasses your birthday, as well as all the other celebrations around at this time of year  ::)  I'd like to think that spring IS just aorund the corner but in the meantime it seems that winter has arrived in Scotland.... Fred has several inches of snow at Tough in Aberdeenshire, President Ian has snow at Kirriemuir and it has been unpleasant here in Aberdeen today with freezing rain and sleet showers and a very cold wind.... Yuck!  Very few flowers out in the garden and it seems they have the right idea!

We have a couple of inches here in Dunblane, and that with a 17 hour power cut which started just after 9 p.m. last night. Now I know how Bruce Almighty felt! He just exclaimed 'I've got the power' on the telly when the lights went out. Lucy was in the shower and started screaming (fortunately no power = no water, not cold water, but she was in the dark). Greenhouse went down to 1oC and the chameleons and tigger had to have hotwater bottles to keep them warm. Fortunately we have a gas hob, but we made the mistake of changing our gas fire to one that requires electricity to draw the air through, so the house was cold this morning.
