:o Sorry folks, trying to read the thread backwards somehow didn't work.  I'll try to be more careful from now on.  Jury duty is such a bind.  It has happened to about three people on our street lately and I'm afraid it will happen to me next, they seem to be moving down the street slowly but surely.

That seems likely, Christine, don't they use the electoral roll to nab the names?

Electoral roll here anyway. And you can opt out if 65 or over.

Not sure what cut-off point for jury duty is in the UK... but I do know that if it is 65 then Christine has NO chance of a let-off! 8)

It is 65, so I've got 3 months left to be 'the hanging judge', come and get me legal system!

Yes, Lesley, the 18th for Fermi's birthday... but I suspect it'll be later Monday morning before he's back at work to pick up his greetings.... but then, it is nearly Monday for him now, isn't it?  ::)

Bounteous birthday greetings Fermi....may your beard never whiten (unless you have an uncontrollable urge to play Santa). There will probably be a clause in the contract.
