Thanks Armin - I'm afraid the strawberries are simply bought - I grow alpines you know... ;D
Lesley - it's simple but oh so tasty - a plain normal cake bottom of crumbly sand dough (at least that's how we call it ??) - a layer of yellow vanilla custard and a layer of fresh strawberries... mmmm ;)

Belated greetings, Luc!
However I expected the cake to be covered in Belgian Chocolate! The favourite type in our household!
cheers

We're going to have to wait for it, David  :'( Sue is in Irleand, for a conference in Dublin, I think.... perhaps we should nip out for a Guiness to toast her in absentia! Hope she's enjoying herself on her birthday!

As a TRUE Yorkshireman David, you will probably wait until she reaches the bar (many distractions between door and bar after a long journey).

Happy birthday Sue ....and belatedly for Luc!

Many thanks for the kind birthday greetings. I was collecting seeds in the Alps, had not seen the greetings in the forum and so I could not thank earlier.
I got no new Pleiones!

Best wishes
Hans

Hans that type of present (pleiones) You have to give to Yourself :).
If I want something for birthday I buy it to myself to be sure to get what I want. If I am lucky my wife pays :)

Kind regards from a warm Portugal

Two birthdays, today, so I'm hoping for double helpings of cake!
Bendgardener ... I feel silly calling you that but it's the only name I have for you, in Oregon, USA
and Heinz, in Germany, are, I trust, both heading for a very pleasant day. Many happy returns of the day to you both!
