Congrats, Maggi and Ian, what a lovely achievement for a lovely couple!
Perhaps Lesley could make a fruitcake in January, then a slice might survive a trip back to Scotland?
We'll look forward to a slice of whichever sort when we get to NZ for the Study Weekend at Lincoln Uni.
cheers

in another thread, Cliff writes:Anyway...what are you doing trawling the net on your anniversary....get yourself ready for the day out and evening meal that Ian has planned?

I thought you knew Ian better than that, Cliff.... this is bulb potting season. He wasn't growing many bulbs in 1972 or goodness knows when the wedding would have been!

We thought it might amuse you to see the following "before and after" pix....

Ian and Maggi, August 2nd 1972

Ian and Maggi, August 2nd 2007

How times change!
A further illustration of this... my Dad still has the bill for our wedding reception, where bottles of Moet and Chandon cost £2.50 each....you can't get much champagne for that price today... I daren't tell you how many bottles our modest gathering got through... you'd think we'd all be dead from alcohol poisoning.

Lesley's cake is delicious, we ate most of it before breakfast! We may need a little something to snack on with some bubbly, later, so this is in store....

Many thanks for all your kind wishes

Thank you, Mark.... now go and wash your mouth out with soap and water!

I am reminded of the evening we went downtown to the cinema, we wanted to see "Blazing Saddles"....in the street outside the cinema was a HUGE crowd waiting. We were surprised that so many people wanted to see the film and it was only after a few moments that we realised that everyone was wearing short tartan trousers, braces and scarves.....yes, that evening the cinema was the venue for a Bay City Roller concert!! We went elsewhere for a movie, the best  alternative we could find was "Towering Inferno"...Ian reasoning that it was an ironic coincidence in film titles..  it was terrible ! I don't think we've been to the cinema since!

Belated Congrats from the South!  Like Ian I'm in repot mode - didn't pick up the forum thread until (past) bedtime!
Bless you both for all your hard work both at home and 'away'. :)
