Ian returned from a day of gallivanting and has viewed this... he's seen it on the list but hasn't tried it yet...  we will now. It looks good though I cannot say I'd have guessed it was tea.

You are on the mark, Maggi. But I would prefere a fresh one not a decaying dead one  ;)

It is Sea Oak (Phycodrys rubens) or Delesseria sanguinea (no English name on this one?) decaying on the beach together with other seaweeds. Some of them are edible though and many are used to make ice cream!

I thought at first it was a  butterfly, then, on enlarging the picture, I saw that it appeared to be a fat little body..... but that's as good as it gets from me.... I have no idea about any Levantine beasties or such... but I do like the sound of that name - Levantine Moth.... you'll need to breed one specially!
