Crevices
« on: February 14, 2011, 07:58:38 PM »
Hello!

I have been following from the wings but this is my first post!
I am the Alpine Student at Wisley this year and have been lucky enough to not only work with Paul and the team on a day to day basis but also follow through the Crevice build with the charming ZZ...

I am now writing my Dissertion on Crevice gardening (and a little on ZZ) and hoped the members might be able to suggest some other examples either in public or private gardens that I might be able to research or visit this Spring..?? Im looking into their development/ advantages / disadvantages, and why Wisley has chosen this form to celebrate their centenary... all suggestions warmly welcomed :)

I hope to engage with you guys a bit more now and id like to add some photos of *work* soon - but not in competition to the Wisley log of course!

Many Thanks,
Chlo

Hello Chloe and a very warm welcome to you.

Quite a few froumists have crevice gardens so I hope you'll get a few invitations to visit.

Forumist Palustris has a cracking crevice garden ( every pun intended) in his glasshouse and there are folks with ouside gardens too.

In the next issue of IRG (International Rock Gardener  http://www.srgc.org.uk/logs/index.php?log=international ) there will be an article on the making of a crevice garden inspired by ZZ in Northern Ireland and soon there will be an article on the centenary of Wisley's rock gardens.

You can always visit me ... My attempt wants building  ;D

Have you seen the thread "in defence of rock" I would have thought there were quite a few there to whet your appetite ... it did mine!! All the best with the dissertation - I know what it was like for my daughter ... she claims it drove her to drink, but I think she was already there lol!! ;D
