1 - a professional photographer

Can anyone identify the camera. If it is a Hasselblad medium format digital body approx £10,000 plus 300mm approx £3000 it would be interesting to see if the pictures are any better than Johns.

It's a great Galanthus blog this year, I'm looking forward to more updates.

I have to make a correction to John's statement about Springwood Park.  I was on a trip, some years ago, with Joe Sharman when his expert eye 'found' it, I seem to remember being cold and tired and consuming Mars Bars.  It was however a very educational and enjoyable trip with a share of the 'finds' now well established in my garden, i.e. 'Springwood Park' and 'Bunch' along with some others which do not have names.  It was good to see John and I am pleased he enjoyed his day.

WOW a real woodland garden. Carole, what are your trees?

Predominantly Lime trees Mark with TPO's on them.  We had permission to remove three Ash trees shortly after we moved in 10 years ago.  They do provide nice dry summer conditions for the snowdrops but the roots are very invasive and we have an awful lot of stones.

Here is the best pic I have of her camera - is it really worth ten grand plus?    Good lord.  

I'll change my mind on the lens after seeing this picture I think it is a 120mm macro, but the price is probably similar.

I've often seen professional photographers with two dslr cameras, one on each shoulder, worth about £5000 inc lenses each, plus flashes and maybe an extra battery to power the flashes. I guess over ten grand might be the ballpark figure for professionals.

Do you know which publication she worked for, probably not a specialist gardening magazine, or she would have had more portable gear.

That lens was to take a picture of the garden owners, who had been artistically posed in a flower bed 20 ft away.  

There was a VERY large padded bag of other camera bits.....

I can now appreciate the difference a good camera (and photographer) make.  Thanks for that John and also thanks for your kind comment Mike.
I am slightly less apprehensive about opening for NGS for the first time on Sunday.  Cliff and Joan Curtis are also open this weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and it is possible to combine both gardens even though we are approx. 40 mins apart.

 Carole, I hope you have lots of happy visitors on Sunday and that the sun shines on you.... visiting the two gardens sound like a lovely way to spend the day.

hoping to visit on Sunday, is our last open day and I'm determined to visit at least one garden this year, have a spare seat so if if anyone is on route up A1M and would like a lift let me know, will be leaving Stevenage about 10 ish, weather permitting
