I feel a wee bit guilty about us changing direction of this thread from annoying songs but many people hate pounding bass synthetic drums

...it makes cars sound as if they have a broken washing machine in the boot.

Anthony,

While I might like music with a decent bass beat.... I absolutely hate idiots who drive (or park) with the music so loud that everyone else in the area has to listen to it as well.  I don't mind people listening to loud music, but if it is loud enough to force the neighbours to listen to it, then get a set of headphones!!  ;D ;D

I think you're doing a disservice to washing machines, by the way.  No self respecting washing machine, be they broken or not, would want to sound like that.  ;)
Cheers.

Perhaps it was a condenser-drier washing machine?

McMark 808 State are named after the Roland 808 drum machine.

Roland also made the 303 bassline machine that created the Chicago acid house sound much used in the late 80s - aciiiiiiiid

It's a washing machine with a built in tumble drier that doesn't require a wide hose connected to the outside as the water vapour condenses and is drained through the water outflow hose.

We need these new-fangled machines (the more new-fangled the less likely they are to work - and they didn't, very well) as there are were very few drying days in Dunblane, so the whirly was rarely used. :( Now we have a separate tumbledrier.

Anthony,

This spring here has almost felt a bit like that as well.  Definitely a case of having to chose your day to dry washing, that is for sure.  Nowhere near as little sunshine as you guys get over there of course, but still a lot of murky weather by our usual standards.  So glad for all the rain though, even if we are starting to consider spontaneously growing webbed feet. ;D
Cheers.

What rock star famously took his mum to stay at his house in California and took her into the garden to admire the view? She then looked at the cloudless sky and the beautiful gardens spread out before her. Her comment, noticing the total lack of washing hanging out anywhere, was "what a waste of a good drying day!" ;D
