The castle was rebuilt in the late 13th century by Edmund, Earl of Cornwall, who was also responsible for building the Great Hall, the bridge and the square church tower.

Thanks for adding the information Paul.

No wonder St. Ives was so crowded, when we all were there in October  ;D

Lanhydrock House, Bodmin
I think I am correct this time
Graham

That was really fast Graham. I found that Lanhydrock was used as a place where
children from London were evacuated to escape the blitz. So it a wellknown house in GB.
It was in the garden fascinating to see big stands of Melianthus, Cautleya etc.

Here some pictures from Lanhydrock and gardens

Lanhydrock  I wonder why they had this Oldtimer car there, it was not even used for the picture ???

Hi Luit,
I'm really enjoying your visit to Devon and Cornwall.
This seems to have been quite a trip.
How long were you away.

Really like the Coprinus picaceus.

Luit, I think the local MG car club must use Lanhydrock regularly I've seen them there too.

Luit,

We enjoyed a visit there last year, great magnolias.

I wonder if the Cautleya is C. spicata 'Robusta'?

Graham, after leaving the DW in Scotland we had about 10 days before returning home for touring through England.

Before I give the next hint I want to show a plant we saw in the garden of a b&b where we stayed
in Cornwall.
I always thought that this plant was used as a sort of groundcover, but here we saw it covering a wall.
It was planted once at the foot of this wall.
Polygonum vaccinifolium

Paddy, I always make a picture of the names as they are in the garden where I see it.
Here it was just Cautleya spicata.
