We started in Seattle and crossed the Cascades to stay a few days in Leavenworth. An interesting town which was going broke after it lost its railroad and so re-invented itself as a Bavarian look alike. We looked at the woodland plants on the way there and then at a variety of habitats from woodland to hot dry screes on trips out.WE saw dozens of different species and so I am choosing a representative selection to show

Lonicera ciliosa
linnaea borealis

Moving on to Enterprise in the Wallowa Mountains of Oregon a visit to Mt Howard was very sparse
with
Phlox hoodii(possibly)

then a visit to Hurricane Creek

Clintonia uniflora
Aquilegia flavescens
Castilleja sp
Clematis columbiana
Calypso bulbosa
Cypripedium montanum which was the star plant

Smashing sets of pictures Tony, love those Calochortus, and the Phlox, and the Lewisias. Well, loved them all really.

Tony there are some real beauties there, liked the Calypso bulbosa  8).  It would be lovely to see all these plants in the natural settings.

Good trip Tony then with lots of interest.  Love the Cyp montanum lovely plant. I had it once but sadly no more  :'(.

lots of gems in there..i guess this was some time ago? i suppose various elevations, so its hard to compare blooming times--Calypso flowers in may/june here, but pyrola much later, for example..

We arrived in Seattle on the 29th June and left two weeks later. The calypso was blooming with the pyrola.It was at the end of its season and the pyrola was just beginning.
