Marmorbruket ( 25 km NE of Norrkoping, Sweden )
« on: June 18, 2010, 10:18:21 PM »
An interesting area which I usually visit numerous times in the spring and early summer as the marble in the ground provide and interesting flora. Marbe used to be quarried here until the late 1960's. Here is a series of plants in flower there from late May to early June

Hypochoeris maculata is a nice plant, sometimes speckled with brown spots on the leaves. It can grow in rock crevices to shaded slopes and shows a lot of variation:

Nice series, the Polygonatum odoratum are impressive, Polygala vulgaris is new to me... very attractive blue; on the first photo of the series of Filipendula vulgaris... are you sure this isn't actually a photo of a fern species?... the foliage doesn't match photos 2 & 3 and I'd swear it's a fern species mislabeled.

Hi Mark ! Yes it looks very much like a fern but the leaves are of Filipendula vulgaris. They haven't unfurled properly, and grow in a very dry spot, so they look a bit different. I will check to make absolutely sure when I'm there next time. Thank you for the comments.

I also think it's a fern... The new leaves look like fernleaves. Do you have more photos of that plant?

I'm familiar with this plant, from my "Filipendula days" ;D, and I still think the first photo of the leaves is a bonafide fern... I'd bet money on it.  I found some photos of the leaves on F. vulgaris in closer detail.

Hi Mark. I don't know this specie at all but  Isn't that the flower bud emerging from the back in
the picture. Just my observation.

I see an unfurling frond, not a flower bud.
