NEW DOUBLE Lillium hybrids with no pollen!!!!
« on: June 16, 2010, 03:35:55 PM »
Here is a view from our secret greenhouse where we grow the first year and second year seedlings of Lilliums. Pictures have been taken at De Jong Lillies the place where i work a lot besides the bulbs (Snowdrops) i grow myself.
Lots of these Lillies are still with no name but that will change coming years, just one i have shown here before the double Red Twin.

regards Gerard

These are very interesting Gerard. Perhaps they are not to my own taste but I can imagine they will be very popular when available to the public.

In your first picture, and almost right in the centre, there is a very dark red lily. Can you show a picture of that one please? 8)

Practicing diplomacy I see, no dust bin comments tonight, eh? ;D  I would've been satisfied with such a response :-X

Truly sorry Mark. I hoped we'd laid that one to rest by now. It must have been a bad day for me. I've had a few lately. ::)

Gerard,
"peony-centred" Liliums? A real boon for florists who will save the time they usually take to cut off the stamens!
cheers

And good for cat owners.  There have been a lot of media reports about toxicity of lilies; where cats have brushed against lilies and got the pollen on their fur then licked it off, it can act as a kidney toxin with fatal consequences. (Dogs seem to be immune)

I do like that deep red, very voluptuous. They're all double but not TOO double, if you see what I mean. ;)
