Thoughts go out to Thomas Huber whose town, Neustadt, has experienced a devastating storm and flood.   Hoping for the best for you and your family Thomas.

Hear, hear! John... I was shocked to see the level of damage that had been suffered in Thomas' region, with over 1500 lightning strikes in the initial storm and much damage caused by fallen tress of vehicles and fires started by the lightning.  The level of flooding is nasty and a great worry , I'm sure.
Hearing also about flood in Arkansas ..... not a great start to summer in the North.

Thomas, thanks for your email but you know what my German is like! I couldn't find the right thing to click on the website. But from your note it was obvious there were some terrible things happened to you and to Hessen, so please know that I and I'm sure everyone here on the Forum will be thinking of you and your family. I hadn't seen anything of these storms on our news so was quite shocked to hear about it. As John says, our thoughs and hearts go out to you all.

Dear me, Erika, I did not know that the rain and flooding was so bad in Hungary ..... how awful to be affected by that.  I hope your family and  house is safe..... I guess yes by your garden pictures.... I hope that's right.

Yes, we live up on the hill side - but, this floating in the Dark Valley, where we usually go for a walk - there is only a small lake, no creek or spring
this water only from the rain!

In the paper today that so far it's the coldest June since 1961 (the arctic oscillation is to blame), following the coldest winter for just as long... Still not 20C this year, although we are promised 18C today, but back to single figures at the weekend. At least the spring flowers are lasting longer than normal. My little patch of bluebells are now in flower (I saw bluebells in England 7 weeks ago!). This isn't really a moan, as I hate hot weather (>25C is too much for me...)

I heard from him a couple of days after the events, but not since then.  He'd had his basement flooded twice, but it was drying out.  No idea whether there have been more storms there since then though?

Yes, what Paul said. I too had a private email about the basement of his house flooded twice, and the cleanup pretty horrific but he and the family were OK. I've heard no more since.

Coming in late of this. I dont watch the news so wasnt aware of devastation in Europe. Has anyone heard from Thomas?

In N Ireland we havent had good prolonged rain for months. I cant tell you when I last had long trousers on or socks and shoes. Shorts and flip flop weather here. Our hottest day so far this year was this week with 26.5C Today is cloudy but the temperature is over 20c

I heard that street trees in Belfast are under pressure because of too much salt over the winter, lack of rain to wash it away, lack of rain, lack of rain to wash away herbicides sprayed around the ground to kill weeds
