« on: May 09, 2010, 06:12:53 AM »
Any one who know this plant.
I received as name as Crinum amoenum, But I don't think so.
Her leave not same as Crinum, But as Boophane sp.

I'm sure, In Thailand are new to imported and collected Boophane sp. and It's will not easy to find offset in plant market as price as low.

Thank you,
Thanin from Thailand

Hello Thanin, it is not a Boophane at all. It is just a Crinum with disticous leaves. There are only a few species with such fan of leaves, but the one from Thailand is undetermined!  ;)

WOW Thanin!
I sent the picture of my plant flowered two years ago to D. Lehmiller, but he also was not able to ID it. You should look at the herbaria of your zone and see!

Thanin, I think you have to look by yourself in the herbaria, not to tell to anyone the fields data, and after that you could try to describe it as a new species! If you want I can help you!

Similar in flower to C. amoenum and C. americanum  but it is Crinum thaianum.
Amazingly this plant is used as an Aquarium plant.

Oron, it is not C. thaianum at all. It is a new species, undescribed. It has the leaves in a fan and not in a rosette like almost all the other Crinums! Thaianum is a aquatic species living under water all year long, just the flowers emerge from water! This species dislikes to be in water, just the soil have to be moist but not bog, at least this is my experience. This species is deciduous and need a lot of warm also in winter, as all the crinums from India and Southern Asia!

You are right Alberto, i was to quick to say it.

Maybe  it is the amphibian form as it was photographed near a lake, or maybe i just should stick to the Mediterranean. ;)
