Did anyone buy Lord Kitchener

I was too busy signing books to buy more than just two snowdrops, but one was Lord Kitchener. Grabbed it as soon as I saw it on the table right next to mine as I sat down to start signing. It pressed all the right buttons for me - big, strong snowdrop, twin scapes, strong scapes, nice mark, good scent, excellent breeding material if fertile.

With all this talk of Lord Kitchener it would be good to see him in the flesh.   8)

And there was I contemplating the purchase of a David Baker, wandering around the gardens discussing it with the wife as I had said nothing over £30...

There were so many large clumps of David Baker around the garden that I find it hard to believe it really should be priced over £30.

Way too many over priced snowdrops there around £50. All EA Bowles sold at £150 each.

Did they really sell, Mark?  There were three left on Joe Sharman's sales table some time into the sale.  Maybe somebody was plucking up the 'courage'?

Yes, Alan. They all sold. I know two people who bought it, and I think I might know who the third was. I think plucking up the courage to splash out £150 for a single bulb was exactly what people were doing.

Sorry I missed joining you all for tea and cakes at Glen Chantry. I was a silly boy and had to go back to the Gala to collect my forgotten order from Colin and then on the return to Glen Chantry I found myself almost at Colchester before I woke up.

We don't have many photos of Glen Chantry so will add a few now. As you will notice I was taken with all the well spaced clumps of drops where one could judge their true architectural character.

Nice group of shots, John. Many thanks. I have only ever enjoyed Glen Chantry in photographs. Wol has visited us here in the south of Ireland on two occasions to speak and we found him wonderful.

Of the snowdrops above, 'Ding Dong' is the best in my mind. It certainly stands up, a big snowdrop, well marked etc.

Thanks John for those, they do look fine against the mulch, Sue must have been worn out getting ready!  It also strikes me that lots of them looked quite short - am I right?  Lapwing in particular I think of as taller - or is it memory playing tricks!  Mine only seem to have reached a couple of inches at the moment.

yes many were short which I suppose could be put down to the cold weather.

It was brought to my attention today that Rob wasnt there.
