Hi All,
I have some seed of Epipactis Palustris from the seed exchange SRGC 2009 kept in the fridge,I would like to get to find some information on seeding in sphagnum moss,anyone out there to give me some expert advice how to go about on that topic  :) :)

Hi, It is quite difficult to grow this species from seed in the garden. You might have success when you sow it on moist soil at the edge of a pond. In the wild the seed needs fungi to make it germinate. That means the soil should have that fungi in it. If you have a pond for a few years and did not disturd the soil too much, you probably will have success. It will take a few years before you see if you are lucky.... patience! This species is not at all easy to germinate in vitro! In my garden I every year see more Epipactis palustris. I did not plant them but used seedpods about 13 years ago. it took about 4 years before the first plants flowered. Now they are really big!

Hi Guus,

Thanks a lot for Your sound advice,I read somewere The sphagnum moss contains the Fungi what is needed to start of the seed to germination ?? I am just not to sure when to sow,I understand the low rate of success but like the challenge and be patient  :) :) :) 8)
