Crocus hadriaticus from two different areas and a Crocus serotinus ssp salzmannii
Crocus hadriaticus from Parnassus
crocus hadriaticus from Itea
Crocus serotinus ssp salzmannii from Spain Zahara
Very nice Tony. This form of Crocus serotinus ssp salzmannii is especially attractive.

Nothing special, only Crocus banaticus and C. kotschyanus.

Gerd

Gerd,
very nice clumps of Crocus banaticus and C. kotschyanus. Good contrast.8)
Best wishes

My first two of the season.

Crocus speciosus 'Oxonion' which I am reasonably certain is true to type. The second was gratefully received from Tony Willis and Tony described it as "one of the odds and sods I've dug out of my plunge" I'm not certain I can ID it until it opens fully, can anyone help please.

Dirk,
your speciosus f. mysteriosus is likely C. speciosus f. versicolor or f. decolor ;) ;D.
Anyway extraordinary. 8)

Either C pulchellus or C kotschyanus.  I think you might have got that far already... my guess would be the latter but you'll soon know when it opens.  C kotschyanus has clearly defined 'W' shaped yellow markings while C pulchellus has a yellow zone in the throat.

David, I'm with Tony - your unknown crocus looks like kotschyanus from the outside, but a look inside will confirm that.

Dirk, hard to tell from your photo, what your mysterious crocus is. A look at the anthers/style and a corm photo would help much more.

I once grew a crocus very similar to this fma mysterious.  It came as Crocus sp ex Ilgaz Dag.  The petals look like C. pulchellus but the yellow pollen suggests C speciosus.  I now grow a seed raised form of C speciosus ssp ilgazensis which looks rather like 'normal' C. speciosus.  I think this plant of yours should be ssp confusus!
