Great stuff from everybody!

It is a treat to review the croci pictures of the old forum. Marc, thanks for the recall.

No crocus buds yet to find in my garden. After 4 weeks of drought had 26ltr/m² rain from yesterday night till now with a sharp drop in temperatures. Hope this will propel new growth.
Best wishes
Armin

Thanks Michael; your autranii is such a fine colour.
I have some gilanicus seedlings but am finding them rather slow so far :-\

MMM Crocus autranii - you will hand pollinate it won't you. ;)

Michael, Janis - is this crocus any more difficult to grow than say Crocus kotschyanus?  I presume it does not make little rice grain cormlets like C kotschyanus :D

Crocus banaticus

A very vigorous form, originally obtained from the late-lamented Hythe Alpines
Gerry passed away  at home  on 25th February 2021 - his posts are  left  in the  forum in memory of him.

I have just received a corm of Crocus mathewii 'Dream Dancer' from Rareplants. Two shoots, and the corm was as big as an onion set: it would only just fit into the circle made by my thumb and fore finger!

At the price of them I would have expected it to be the size of an onion never mind a set!

It looks good on the web and I hope it flowers well and look forward to seeing a picture.

Yes, I never saw any grain for autranii and splitting in two happens quite rarely. I'm handpollinating flowers regardless of bee hive in my greenhouse and sawing seeds. I can't be proud with good seed crops and several times lost mother plants - once from winter frost - it is less hardy than kotschyanus and once I forgot that it needs some moisture in summer. Last season was very good - I had 10 for sell and 5 left with me and I got good seed crop. In same time I lost many Erythronium and Trillium seedlings - forgot that they need moisture in summer. Too large collection...

My collection really became too large. Today found that Crocus speciosus which I collected in Crimea on Tschatir dag yaila almost finished blooming and I didn't noted it. Now too late for pictures, only in notebook I can write that those are the earliest of my speciosus. It isn't so early as lost form from Ai-Petri which I named "praecox" and which bloomed in first days of August but it blooms well before of all other speciosus from my present collection.

I'm sure we'd all be willing to help Jānis make his collection more manageable? ;D
