Snowdrop Events 2010
« on: September 01, 2009, 08:40:39 AM »
:)September 1, an unmistakeable autumn feel in the air, prompts me into print after the summer break to enquire whether anyone has heard on the grapevine about dates and venues for snowdrop do's after Christmas?

Nice to see you again Steve!  The leaves are falling here.  Strong rumour has it that the Gala garden will be Glen Chantry.

Hi all, we have plans for a Snowdrop day at Brechin castle on 21st February which is a Sunday. ( The day after Dunblane show)We will see millions of Galanthus nivalis and an area with Galanthus plicatus where a few really good hybrids between the two grow. I will post further details later but the usual format is a digital show about snowdrops then lunch in the castle a superb setting wine etc then a tour round the snowdrops cost are £25 maybe sounds expensive but it really is a good day,Anyone interested please contact me direct,  cheers Ian the Christie kind.

Greetings.

I'd like to inform galanthophiles that the Wisley Plant Centre's 'Snowdrop Splendour' event will take place on the weekend of January 30th & 31st 2010. There will be talks by Donald Palmer, snowdrop enthusiast, and many varieties to buy. Our snowdrop list will be released shortly, when it has been finalised. I will post a link on the forum.

I'd also like to mention that we currently have in stock a limited number of plants of a new reginae-olgae x elwesii monostictus hiemalis hybrid, raised by our suppliers Cambridge Alpines, called 'Autumn Beauty'. Said to be very similar in habit to elwesii, but flowering through October. One bulb per pot at £3.99 each. You can reserve them by calling 01483 211113, but they have to be picked up from the Plant Centre, we don't do mail order.

Thanks & regards,

Andy

Our SnowdropGala will be held on the 20th of February 2010 near the Zaanse Schans. There will be this time a nice display of several snowdrops and some really rare ones. Besides the snowdrops there will be also Helleborus, Rhodohypoxis and some other springflowering flowerbulbs.
Free entrance and lots of parkingspace, address kalverringdijk 40 Shipyard Claasen, for a roadmap see website www.snowdrop.nl
The website is undergoing a update so i hope it will be soon readable.

Dear friends,

There is a new event in Germany: a “schneeglockchenspecial“ in Hamburg on 6 and 7 March 2010 at the “Garten von Ehren Markttage“.
It is a special plantsale with many rare springflowers, like Hepatica, Helleborus, Galanthus, alpines, auriculas, etc.

More info will be available soon on www.gartenve.de

Greetings,
