Now a pair of adenophylla still not started blooming but those are attractive in leaves, too. Purple Heart has purple centre of leaves, another purple edge of leaflets. Picture of Purple Heart in flowers is from last summer.

As you say, Janis, the leaves are a very special feature of this lovely oxalis - purple heart had a different meaning in the 60's  ;)

It can be frost damage, but doubtfull - with me alive even after very hard winters growing outside. Other could be Fusarium or some quite special (I not remember which) fungal disease. For that I lost many Fritillaria one spring. Hadn't problems on Oxalis but saw in Holland on traditiional O. adenophylla.

As far as I remember, purple hearts had about the same effect as a half-pint of lemonade shandy.

Thanks for your friendly offer Janis, but the Purple Heart was a generous gift when we visited Gothenburg Botanics last year, which makes it even more sad that it got lost...
A second plant was given to my friend Luc Scheldeman (you will know him - he always orders for both of us) and this one does ok !
Just bad luck I guess and no obvious reason as the leaves did emerge nicely at first and I don't think we had any important night frosts at that time.

Luc,

Is there anything left by way of bulb below ground?
Cheers.

I haven't checked yet Paul - maybe I'll have a look during the weekend.  :-\

I defer to your expertise David. I was an innocent in these matters.
