Sorry , I have switched to Philip MacDougall's Taiwan adventure in November.  SWMBO may want these moved. Got that in one, John!! M

A wonderful fern found by Philip. We thought it was an Aspidistra when he showed us photo #1.

They also found a Pteris that was 2 meters tall, a gorgeous thing and probably a true brute to deal with if it decided to seriously take up residence in the garden.  Unfortunately I downloaded the shot improperly. Perhaps P. will send it in when he gets home to Vancouver tonight - just in time for a blizzard of 20cm and to his greenhouses that hopefully remained unfrozen at -13c.

Another from Taiwan in November. And Shortia expendiculata growing up in the air on a log.  Says something about the rainfall in Taiwan.

The first fern is most likely Pyrrosia lingua which is potentially hardy in zone 7.
