Super photos.... of course! I like the thumbnails showing different parts, or variations, that is a grand idea.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments and support. The Galearis (yes you did Shelagh!!!!) is one beautiful plant and grows amongst the trilliums and cypripediums (Name dropper) not too far from us. Come see it next Spring.

Maggi....thanks for the link. Appreciate it. Interesting about the thumbnails. Harry Jans wrote me and suggested I magnify them on a mouse over. I'll maybe do that when I get a little time. (Did i REALLY say that??).

Just hope everyone gets a s much pleasure from the photos as we do from taking them.

 I did hover over the thumbnails, wondering if they would expand .....but that is an added "extra" for later, when you have a year or two to spare!

Hi Kristl,

Great idea.....but don't put me forward for it please  It has take me a full year to photograph a very small percentage of the KY flora. I believe this project could require a 10 year plan...and then to 'web' everything takes an inordinate amount of time. And my beloved only has a certain amount of patience when things need doing around the house.

For those interested, there are a number of wildflower societies who have their own sites. Some excellent....some downright bad.
A Google search will show you what is available.
The concept for KentuckyFlora came about because the field guides are not so good for identification and I felt that if anyone had taken the trouble to visit us, we should at least let them have an idea of what to find, where to find it and at what time of year. Also, the variations can never be shown in a publication (cost-prohibitive) and if a field guide shows only white trilliums and hepaticas, how's the poor ol' visitor supposed to know what it is, when he sees a peach-colored trillium erectum or a blue and white striped hepatica?

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. "Finding the time" will probably come later in the year when the garden requires less work, but find the time I will. I already have most of the photos I want to share, it's getting the chance to sit down and put them into the format for the site.
