Hepatica americana from northern Minnesota, USA.  Can you guess what the mulch is?


This is at the base of a Chinese Dragon spruce (Picea asperata).  The squirrels take the spruce cones, sit under the tree and remove and discard all the cone scales to get to the seeds.  It's a truly squirrel-made (and very attractive) mulch!

Yes, very beautiful!!!!

Millstream Merlin has been blooming for weeks, even though I didn't plant the sections until 2024.
The acutiflora also delights me.

And here it is in full bloom.  Last year the rabbit had eaten all the flowerbuds, so it had energy to burn!
