I have an update from Taavi Tuulik, who gave me 'Kera'. I had misunderstood his description of its origin, which I am now happy to correct:KERA was bred by Taavi Tuulik from the cultivar 'Suur Tilk', which itself was bred by Sulev Savisaar.
One of the features I always like in snowdrop flowers is the lovely crinkly texture of the outers on, for instance, Diggory. A new variety in flower here just now, G. plicatus Kera, has deeply corrugated flowers in a wonderful balloon shape. It is shorter than Diggory. It is a seedling sent to me from Estonia, and was bred by Suur Tilk.
the barely opening flower on it’s particularly long pedicel resembles an old fashioned tear-glass bottle streaked all over with green, both inside and out.
Just for you Mariette, the inner marking of 'Goldsmith'...
Two new desirable introductions which are being bulked up and will be available iny st the near future, both absolute crackers! The very strongly coloured 'Lemon and Lime' and a wonderful clump of 'Goldsmith'.
'Green Besom' from the continent.
And crackers they are Brian!johnw
‘Chantry Gold Cross’...has a long narrow golden ovary with a distinctive golden X-shaped mark on the inner segment.
