Re-Potting Snowdrops
« on: July 14, 2019, 12:21:46 PM »
I am frequently asked, should you re-pot Snowdrops each year.

I don't re-pot every drop but I ALWAYS re-pot my 'pot-buster' drops. These are defined as those drops which within one year will pose an existential threat to the pot they are in!

One example is Morgana (see photos). The large number of bulbs, started as two medium bulbs, last year, in the middle of a 20cm hexagonal pond pot!

The smaller, satellite pond pots contained single bulbs. This pot is showing the characteristic 'bulge' of  pots that required cutters to extricate the 9 bulbs!

Get to know your 'pot-busters', anything by Anne Wright for example, and check them out each year.
