Umbel for id.
« on: August 29, 2018, 10:46:05 PM »
Any ideas on this Umbel which appeared near my bird feeder.  I thought Daucus carota but those I saw in the Uists were much more robust.  The seed heads are as attractive as the flowers.  I only feed Sunflower hearts but the birds can bring in other seeds in their droppings.  There is an Oat plant growing beside it.

Thanks, Ralph.  Maybe they grow better in sand than in garden soil.

A fairly typical Hebridean  wild carrot.
