I've just been given a small plant of this lovely Calanthe species/hybrid?.

As i'm keen to try it outside planted in the garden i'd like to hear from anyone who had success in Zone 8,(or lower), maritime climate .Ta.

Cheers dave.

Calanthe x albo-longicalcarata S. S. Ying
Calanthe x kintaroi Yamam.
Calanthe x matsumurana Schltr.
A natural hybrid between C. sylvatica and C. triplicata. Most characters intermediate between these parents. Roots 3-4 mm in diam. Flowers usually white, tinged with purple, rarely light purple or purple, often turning dull orange in age; midlobe of lip 2-lobulate to clawed reniform, retuse; spur 24-32 mm long.

TAIPEI: Padolushan, Chen 71. PINGTUNG: Laufushan, Su et al. 8003. TAITUNG: Chinshuiying, Su 375.

Reported from southern Japan and the Ryukyus. Taiwan, known from a few localities at 500-1,300 m. "

I thought maybe being from Taiwan it might not be to hardy, but these height localities are not so very low as to suggest being too tender..... can't say I'd risk it though!!
