Yes, I'm so happy, 2017
« on: June 29, 2017, 08:28:13 PM »
Pulled into the parking lot of my grocery store on the harbour front to find this montrosity docked nearby, Anthem of the Seas.  I swear there were more people in the streets nearby and in the store than I've ever witnessed.  I'm so happy I never booked a vacation on this one as I've lost my door sign "Misanthropy Spoken Here".  A good way to catch a permanent case of agoraphobia.  A "normal" cruise ship docked at its stern, the Masdam and it's huge.....

Also in port the USS Eisenhauer which looks like Heathrow afloat and a container ship, the Zim Antwerp, with a capacity of 10,000 containers.  No water skiing this evening.

any photos of USS Eisenhower and its support ships?

by the way is that compst or gravel in the bags - I have a bit of a problem with gravel, but it seems a long way to go and pick some up :(

That is a massive cruise ship

My guess is the bags at the store's garden centre are bark for mulching or useless planting mix.

When I was a child the Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth would oftentimes be docked back to back at this same pier.

video.

Crikey!  Well, I'm not a great one for holidays at the best of times  but there isn't enough money in the world to entice me on board one of those floating cities.
There are three thousand crew on the aircraft carrier - can you imagine how many people are on board those cruise ships? Yikes!!

I can't imagine why so many crew members were in the mega grocery store unless they ran out of chocolate aboard.....
