Pacific Coast Iris species seeds

Hi, I'm an obsessive Iridophile and am slowly building a collection of species from around the Northern Hemisphere. I'm concentrating on PC species just now and have innominata, bracteata, prismatica, chrysophylla, douglasiana and missouriensis plants germinated from seed (they're really quite easy with a soak and don't really need a cold spell). I reckon I need hartwegii, fernaldii, tenuis, tenuissima and tenax. Any idea where I can get seed of these and whether I've missed any?
I'd really appreciate your help!

You can also check the Jepson Manual online
ucjeps.berkeley.edu/eflora/
and Calflora
www.calflora.org
Both sources will give you a listing of all the Iris species native and naturalized in California. This will be the bulk of the Iris species native to the Pacific Coast of North American. The links are
educational
, not commercial sources of seed, however on the Calflora website there are links to commercial vendors. As I remember this is listed as "Planting Guide" under their menu. I occasionally have contact with the folks that manage the Calflora web site. I think that they will be pleased to know if there planting guide it is helpful in your search for PC Iris species.
Best of Luck!
Yes, I just checked the Calflora website and "Planting Guide" is located on the left hand menu.

The Society for Pacific Coast Native Iris website has photos and information.

There is an annual seed exchange for members. The offerings are almost entirely of
hybrids, but tenax seeds are usually listed.

I definitely agree with Diane about the SPCNI! Their seed exchange has enabled me to test Iris chrysophylla, douglasiana, hartwegii var australis, innominata, munzii and tenax for survivability here in Nova Scotia. I also have received seed of several hybrids through the exchange. All in all, well worth joining if you like Pacific Iris. By the way, Diane, I now have seedlings of douglasiana that trace back to you. Thanks for being a donor!
