Hi David,

What differences do you see between your Erythronium californicum and E. 'White Beauty'

They are both very lovely.

I am patiently waiting for E. 'White Beauty' to open.

Hi Julie, only one, the leaves are much darker marked on my californicum than they are on White Beauty-but that might just be a difference in cultivation. Ian regards White Beauty as just a good form of califoricum. Both very nice though.

Claire, I do like americanum.

Wim, I like your revolutum x 'Moonlight Serenade' such a well proportioned flower.

Sorry Diane, I had mis-named it. It is called "Ardovie Bliss" not "Arduaine" -I have changed the entry above.
It is a hybrid almost definitely involving Erythronium hendersonii but with what else? -I am not sure. The cerise anthers/filaments/stigma are certainly attractive.
Perhaps Ian Young or Ian Christie (the source of my plant) can shed some further light.

Erythronium Festival - Talk and Walk with Ian Young
In mid-April the flowering of Erythronium revolutum, commonly known as the 'trout lily', creates a unique experience. These woodland glories bring elegance and colour to the spring succession of Rhododendron, Azalea and flowering bulbs. The right conditions at Inverewe mean they grow in abundance, producing large naturalistic colonies with a flowering time from 10 days to 3 weeks depending on the spring temperatures.

Join Ian Young on a Talk and Walk to see the Erythroniums at Inverewe with an expert.

15.00-16.30: Walk in the garden

Ian Young is recognised as one of the leading experts in the cultivation of Erythroniums in the UK. He is an active member of the Scottish Rock Garden Club and has maintained a weekly bulb blog, with an international following.

How tall are your E.californicums? They look pretty tall in pictures.
Last spring 'White Beauty' flowered here, and I had expected it to be as tall as 'Pagoda',
but it was much smaller (about half the size of P), and I have to move it so that it isn't overrun by bigger companion plants.
