Gladiolus dehenii "Black Cherry"

A couple of years ago, I got some seed from the sales table at our AGS Branch. They were labelled Gladiolus dehenii "Black Cherry". I now have 8 substantial seedlings. However, I can't find any information on this plant on the internet or in the AGS Seed Exchange lists.  Does anyone know of it? Is it actually worth growing?

Nothing in Goldblatt's book on G. dehenii " Black Cherry"

It may be a spelling error of G. dalenii.

If it is growing now it may be the G. dalenii.  It is one if not the only summer growing Gladiolus

Wait for a flower and post here.

Gladiolus "black cherry" is a hybrid variety of Gladiolus, you can find lots of pictures on internet. I didn't find any variety of G. dalenii named 'Black cherry', only 'Boone', 'Bolivian peach' and 'Halloweenie'. You will have to wait until it flower to know if you have "Black cherry", dalenii or something else...
Both are summer growing gladiolus. Dalenii is hardy till zone 7-8, varieties are are usually less hardy.

Yet again - many thanks to you all for your replies and information. I must have mis-read the label on the bag at the AGS Chiltern Branch. I can't remember who brought them along.
