Looking for a scout to explore the Hadrian's Wall
« on: September 02, 2016, 11:27:03 AM »
Hello,

My husband is not interested in plants (though he sometimes gives one to me from my whished-list). His hobby is historical research and writing books about what he found. At the moment he's busy with a book about the heathen Franks, that will be published in German and English.
For years he had the dream to visit the Hadrian's Wall with someone who is interested in the historical remnants there as well. Following the recommendation just to take the bus and visit tourist sites is not intended.
The idea is to find someone with archaeaology and history as hobby (or a student of these) who can pick us up at Newcastle with his own car and show us round the old places for 10-14 days. We'll shurely pay him, gazoline for his car, meals and overnight facilities for him.

So if here's someone who would do that (or knows someone) we could plan that for June or September next year.

Hoping to find someone

Hello Hannelore ,

I cannot help you with Hadrian's Wall ....but there is maybe another interesting wall ( not so far )

My suggestion is the "Mur Païen" ( Heidenmauer ) near Ottrott /Elsass

https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mur_pa%C3%AFen_du_mont_Sainte-Odile

here is a small "amuse gueule"

Best wishes
