Here is a video how to collect seeds from your garden. If you are a beginner, or more experienced and you just want some tips and tricks, this might be helpful.

Meanie, just use the organza bags for Impatiens. Works perfect.

I tried that - the seed either rolled out, the bag snapped the pod off or the pod exploded as I put it on  :o
I'm a dab hand with my thumb and the first two fingers now.

I also collect the seeds by hand, like you do, but last year I had no time to do that  because of my disease, so I tried it with the organza bags. The Impatiens species I have,  grow in clusters, so some are already setting seed, while others still have blooms. The trick is too bag them if the seeds are still unripe and there are still some blooms, so the pod won't explode. If the bag snapped the pod off, you tighened it too much. Yes, sometimes seeds roll out, but if you choose the upright pods, it will happen seldom.

Hi Jonna,
Is it okay to copy the link for our local group's newsletter? Who should I acknowledge?
I'm keen to encourage more of our members to collect seed for the Seed Exchange!
cheers

Fermi, yes, I would love it if you copy the link for your local group's newsletter. I posted it to encourage people to collect seeds.
English is not my mother language, so I don't understand your question 'Who should I acknowledge?' Please explain.
Will come with a video about cleaning seeds soon. I think that is very important too.
