Lesley, David and Luc - thank you - this is not the most striking species but I also like it very much and I am glad it likes my local conditions.

Iris willmottiana is a native of Central Asia. Phillips&Rix says it is worth trying in good soil outside, preferably where it will become rather dry in summer. In spite of the rainy summer last year it is still OK. I hope for a better summer this year!

Great to see Wilmottiana outside Kenneth.. I've been hesitating to try it - I think I will now I see you succeed in Sweden.
And I share your wish for a good summer

A good hybrid Juno which as you can see doesn't mind growing outside in the rain.

I think many more are growable outside than we have realized. Certainly (provided plenty material is available) it's worth trying any of the species or hybrids that grow with recognizable stems. Sun and good drainage are the most important things and maybe some lime and a deepish soil, to accomodate the thong roots.

Hi everyone,
I am Miriam from Israel. I am an ASI member but I am interested in all Iris species.
Here is the Iris palaestina that flowered last January in my garden.
All the best,
Miriam

A beautiful iris Miriam. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Not an easy plant to grow here in the UK, and I would guess not very frost hardy.

Hello Miriam,
nice to have you here, in this forum are a lot of excellent Irisgrower of (nearly?) all sections and apart of this specialist in nearly all other type of plants existing on the world.
Very beautiful Iris palaestiana you show. I always have problems to remember what differences there were between the very similar species I.palaestina and I.planifolia ...
