Tecophilaea - once again
« on: January 21, 2008, 03:40:38 AM »
Last year I posted under "Wrong Seeds" about some seedlings I was
growing from seed sent to the AGS seed exchange as Tecophilaea.

Maggie posted a photo of what the seeds should have looked like.  I
hadn't taken a picture of those seeds.  However, I have just received
seeds from the Scottish exchange.  Here is a photo using a quarter inch
grid.  The seeds don't look nearly as big as the ones in Maggie's picture.

What do you think?

Meantime, the lo-o-ong seedlings that are labelled "Not Teco" are up
and growing vigourously again.  Another couple of years and I'll know
what they are.

Diane - those look OK to me.
Don't be misled by the pics from Mr & Mrs BD - everything they grow is so blooming healthy that it is twice as big as us mere mortals achieve ;D

Ian's photo is of freshly harvested seed, which is plumper than the dried seed sent out in the exchange.

I met someone at the Western Winter Study Weekend held last weekend
in Vancouver B.C. who grew those "not teco" seeds from the AGS.

Hers bloomed and seemed to be Romulea bulbocodium.
