Trillium Lake, Oregon

I spent my weekend exploring the beautiful Trillium Lake and surrounding wilderness. The lake is nestled on the south side of Mt. Hood, at about 1100m. It is aptly named for the prominence of Trillium ovatum (of which there are hundreds, if not thousands) surrounding the lake. I viewed many spectacular species, and have included pics of some of my favorite that happened to be blooming while I was there. I hope to return in a few weeks to see the start of the Cypripedium montanum flowering season, of which I saw many plants beginning to emerge from there winter rest. Enjoy!

What a beautiful place, Danny
(I've edited your posts to add the titles of the pictures in the text - this means the search engine can find the photos. )

It is a very special place. I can't wait for the snow to melt up on Mt. Hood so I can do some alpine/subalpine exploration as well. There are some stunning places up near the 3000m mark!
