RHS /AGS London Show 27th April 2014
« on: April 27, 2014, 08:35:19 PM »

On Sunday 27th April Jon Evans will again be organising the AGS London show at the RHS Halls - as well as the show, there is also a series of talks - strangely there seems to be no mention of this on the AGS site but the RHS has all the details :
Venue for the day is RHS Lindley Hall, VINCENT SQUARE, Westminster, London SW1P 2PE
http://www.rhs.org.uk/Shows-Events/RHS-London-Flower-Shows/pdf/2014/talks

Features include: alpine plants from Alpine Garden Society (AGS) members, UK nurseries, and Wisley Alpine section ; RHS Wisley and AGS advice desks ; an AGS photographic exhibition and mountain paintings from Sam Gare .

The Farrer  Medal at the AGS London Show has been awarded to Acis trichophylla shown by Bob & Rannveig Wallis.  Lots of members still en route home after the day- hope all journeys go well.

Many thanks to Alan for the photos.  He was able to attend the show because he could stay over  with his younger daughter, Claire - AKA "The Dancing Princess" - it was still something of a marathon for him.
He tells me : Finished work Saturday left 2-30pm got to Claire's 7.00pm  went out for dinner Sunday got up 6.00am left Claire's 7.12am, at show hall 7.50am Claire navigating, left show 5.00pm took Claire home, had cuppa left 6.50pm got home 11.00pm  not a bad days work !

Phew!

It may  a little known fact that the Butcher's car transforms into a helicopter at the touch of a button - fuelled by tripe, I think...... ::)

It may  a little known fact that the Butcher's car transforms into a helicopter at the touch of a button - fulled by tripe, I think...... ::)

I wish mine did, it took me 4 hours to get home, the first 17 miles took an hour and a half.  Will have to speak to Alan about that special tripe  ;D ;D

Thanks for all the pictures, exhausted just reading about the trip, must buy more from your shop Alan if it gives you such a boost.
Rather liked the Lepidiun nanum as is a difficult slow plant to grow, might have been my Farrer choice by looking at pictures but seeing in the flesh and looking at a pic are completely different things so go with the judges as the were there, I was not.

Just to note that in between my labours as show secretary, I did manage a few snatched shots of notable plants from around the benches, and I have posted these to the AGS website here.
