Margaret Owen's snowdrop day 2014
« on: February 23, 2014, 08:40:43 PM »
Just relaxing after a 6hr round trip to Margaret Owen's great snowdrop day. Fantastic event with a great crowd and an amazing variety of snowdrops. Some photos of the event with Margaret herself holding court, a general view of a part of the garden and one of my favourites David Baker which I got my mitts on from the sales table.... result... (mind you it was far from being my only purchase).

I agree Richard, it was a good day.  Some wonderful hellebores as well as a huge range of snowdrops.  Will I regret not paying for that Kew Green?

Appropriate that you should have photographed Margaret while she was standing over Galanthus Margaret Owen.

Chas. A big clump of John Long was dug up that had huge bulbs with a couple of shoots on each one, with 3-4 flowers. Other varieties dug up were doubles like Jaquinetta, Blewbury tart. Some nice yellows on the sales table were Woodpeckers and Spetchley Yellow. Bob has already mentioned Kew Green which caused quite a stir which I succumbed to. Some of the choice varieties were a small number of Rosemary Burnham and Selina Cords and some delightful Pagoda. Some serious damage done to my bank account! But as it was all for charity did not feel so bad (not sure my bank manager would agree thought)
I had a chat with Ian who I had only talked to on the phone previously.

My first time at the Patch for drops, been to see Margaret’s Nerines before though. I arrived early on Sunday and was promptly given a job to do!! A great day and quite an experience.

I love that Jim Almond has his hi-visibility vest on so he's not mistaken for a snowdrop!
