HPS Ragley Hall Snowdrop Day
« on: February 16, 2014, 09:52:59 PM »
Just back from a splendid day at Ragley Hall with blue skies! Very entertaining & informative  talks by Julian Sutton (Desirable Plants), Tom Mitchell (Evolution Plants) and Ross Barbour (Ragley Hall). The weather allowed a stroll around the newly laid Winter Garden. Scent from the Daphne odora and Sarcococca confusa was dreamy....

Spent far too much of course on the excellent selection of snowdrops on offer, including a replacement Bagpuize Virginia and a Wispy. I will need to hide them from the wife or she will be wanting another pair of boots!

A good weekend and the garden looked very nice indeed.  Only downside was that the organisers didn't think to put new batteries in the mikes as at the back of the room we all found it difficult to hear particularly with a bad echo as well.  Having said that the talks were excellent and not being able to hear the AGM was no loss!

Took lots of photos and will post some later but three to start.

1. and 2.  In the Plant Sale
3.            Brian Ellis obviously seeing something he likes and Jo Hynes on far right.

Did you venture out side to see the crevice garden?

Yes we did Maggie.  Although funnily enough I didn't take any pics of it as not much colour.  Hopefully will put up some more tomorrow when I have processed them.

Ross has done a great job with the winter garden.
Does anyone know who supplied the snowdrops to Ragley as I thought they all looked particularly large flowered & lusty.

And talking about lust.............apparently Ross caused one or two lady galanthophiles hearts to flutter   ;)

I understand Olive Mason had something to do with it.
